Employer Matching

Usually yes: Annual Appeal donations, gifts to any PTO fundraiser, cash or check gifts (ask the Treasurer for a receipt), and gifts from grandparents or retirees whose company matches.

Usually not: event tickets, merch, raffle tickets, PTO memberships, and gifts for only your child's class.

Some companies give money to the places their employees volunteer. Your HES volunteer hours count. Examples (October 2026; confirm in your giving site):

• Microsoft and Apple: $25 per volunteer hour

• Bloomberg: $2,500 after 25 hours in a year

• Bristol Myers Squibb and Bank of America: $500 after 50 hours

• Merck: $500 after 40 hours

My gift was a Monster Mash ticket. Does it count?

Usually not, because you got an event in return. An extra donation on top of a ticket usually does.

My company says schools or PTOs aren't eligible.

Some programs skip K-12. Ask about volunteer grants, which often have different rules.

I gave cash or a check.

I can't find you in my company's giving site.

Can my spouse or a grandparent request a match?

Yes, if their employer or former employer matches. Most companies match the employee's own gift, so the gift usually needs to come from them.

Is there a minimum?

Many companies start at $25. Check your giving site.

When does the PTO get the money?

Usually one to six months after you submit. Your company may email us to confirm your gift first.

What do you do with my information?

We use it only to watch for your match and to thank you. We never share it.
